Free Prostate Cancer Screenings at West Bend Clinic

West Bend Clinic will be hosting free prostate cancer screenings Thursday, September 9 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at West Bend Clinic on 1700 W. Paradise Drive. Screenings will be by appointment only. Advanced registration is required, as space is limited. To register call 262-365-6100.

Annual screenings are recommended for men age 50 and over, and beginning at age 45 for men with a family history of prostate cancer.  Following recommended screening guidelines is an important factor in early detection.  Finding the disease sooner can result in more effective treatment options and lead to increased life expectancy compared to those diagnosed at a later stage.

Concussion awareness is important for children and adults

"A concussion does not mean a loss in consciousness. In a vast majority of concussions, the child or adult does not lose consciousness. Symptoms can include headache, dizziness, feeling nauseous, confusion, and memory problems. Even after injury, the person may feel sluggish, irritable, have trouble sleeping or struggle in school."

- Stacy Lynch, MD, Sports Medicine Physician
 West Bend Clinic

So how is a concussion treated?

Time and total rest, that means rest from video games and other sound and visual stimulation. You want that person to have mental rest as well as physical rest. The brain, just like an ankle sprain, needs time to heal.
